As students prepare to return to campus this fall, members of the London Police Service are preparing for the return of their LEARN program.
The abbreviated LEARN program stands for Liquor Enforcement and Reduction of Noise.
First launched in 2007, the initiative uses a proactive approach in the community concerning troublesome parties, open fires, noise, littering, and public urination.
As a result, an increased police presence will be active throughout September in downtown London and neighbourhoods surrounding Western University and Fanshawe College to provide education and information for students.
Staff Sergeant Chris Carne trusts the launch of the new program will be helpful in providing a safe and embracing community within London.
"Striking a balance between having a good time and following health guidelines laid out by health officials will be the key to a safe and enjoyable school year as we navigate the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, together."
LEARN will be set in place until September 25, 2021.
