Provincial police in Oxford County are investigating after a 58-year-old Cambridge man drowned in a quarry in Innerkip.
Emergency crews were called to the Trout Lake Quarry on George Street just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Witnesses told police the man began to struggle shortly after going into the water. He was pulled out by nearby people who heard his cries for help.
The man was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have identified the deceased as Jorg Meinzer, 58, of Cambridge.
An autopsy to confirm the cause of death is scheduled for Thursday.
