The Ottawa police marine unit, firefighters, and paramedics had been searching the water for the man since Sunday afternoon. The man was seen going into the water at Lemieux Island just after 4 p.m. It is believed he was among a group of people jumping into the river from the Prince of Wales Bridge.

Emergency crews were called after he did not resurface.

Police have identified the deceased as a 26-year-old man from London. His name has not been released.

"The police investigation continues, and no foul play is suspected at this time," police said on Monday. "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man."
