Leamington man charged in violent robbery in south London

Charges have been laid in connection with a violent robbery that left a woman hurt in south London.

London police were called to the area of Exeter Road and Wellington Road South around 2 p.m. on Wednesday after a woman was assaulted and robbed. She suffered minor injuries in the attack.

When police arrived on scene, they saw a suspect running east toward Bessemer Road drop a duffel bag. The suspect was arrested and a search of the duffel turned up 56 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition.

A loaded .22 calibre firearm and personal property belonging to the woman were also found by police.

An 18-year-old Leamington man is charged with robbery with violence, possessing a restricted firearm without a licence, possessing a loaded regulated firearm, and careless storage of a firearm or ammunition.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 29.
