Woman flees from man with gun

A London man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly approached a woman while holding a gun.

Police say a 29-year-old woman was walking in the area of Dundas Street and Elizabeth Street at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a man she didn't know called out to her.

Once the woman acknowledged him, she noticed he was holding what appeared to be a gun and she started to run away, but the man followed her.

While fleeing, the woman managed to call police and provide a description of the suspect to officers. Shortly before 3 a.m., a suspect was arrested on Lyle Street and a replica handgun was seized during a search.

A 34-year-old man is charged with possession of a weapon and criminal harassment. He is to appear in court on June 1.
