Weapons call on Sydenham ends with two in custody

Two people have been arrested hours after London police were called about a man allegedly armed with a gun at a home north of the downtown on Wednesday.

Police received a report about the man, who was believed to be in possession of a firearm, at a home on Sydenham Street, near Talbot Street around 1 a.m.

Residents in neighbouring homes were asked to either leave the area or stay inside away from windows while police investigated.

Around 9 a.m., police confirmed two people had been taken into custody. Charges have not yet been laid.

No injuries were reported and there is no risk to public safety, police said.

Sydenham Street between St. George and Talbot streets was closed for much of the morning. It was reopened around 9:30 a.m.
