Up to 20cm of snow possible by Friday

The London region could be in for a significant dumping of snow Thursday  into Friday morning.

Environment Canada upgraded a snow squall watch to a snow squall warning for Middlesex London on Thursday. The warning was lifted later in the afternoon. But according to the national weather agency, flurries and heavy snow squalls are expected to periodically hit the area until Friday morning. There is the potential for between 15-20 cm of snowfall locally within 12 hours.

The squalls will ease overnight before making a come back Friday morning. Another 5 cm is possible before the squalls taper off in the afternoon.

The snow will also be accompanied by strong winds.

Drivers are warned travel could become difficult as snow squalls can reduce visibility and make roads hard to navigate. Anyone who has to venture out is advised to leave extra time to get where they are going and adjust their speed accordingly.
