Item thrown from vehicle crashes down on 401 driver's windshield

Provincial police are looking for the person who tossed an item onto the windshield of a vehicle on Highway 401 in Southwest Oxford Township.

The vehicle was heading west on the highway just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday when a small blue or grey car drove passed, throwing something out the window. The undisclosed item hit the other vehicle's windshield, startling the driver who was able to maintain control and safely pull over.

"This is a very dangerous act that had the potential to cause a collision and injury to the operator of the vehicle or another innocent motorist," said OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk.

Police are investigating and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
