Damage pegged at $69K after two crashes involving suspected impaired drivers

A pair of collisions, just minutes apart, that caused a combined $69,000 damage have led to impaired driving charges against two Londoners.

The first crash happened at the intersection of York and William streets around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. A vehicle hit a utility pole before coming to rest on its roof.

Minutes after arriving on scene, officers were notified about a second collision on Adelaide Street North near Huron Street. An investigation determined a car had hit another vehicle before crashing into a fence and then a tree.

Damage from the first crash is estimated to be approximately $15,000, while damage from the second collision is pegged at approximately $54,000.

The drivers of the vehicles involved in both collisions were arrested.

A 23-year-old is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance in relation to the York Street crash. A 29-year-old man is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, and impaired exceeding blood alcohol concentration in connection with the Adelaide Street collision.

No injuries were reported in either collision.
