A 26-year-old woman is facing charges after an argument between two women in London's Old East Village ended with one being stabbed.
The two women were on Elizabeth Street, just north of Dundas Street when they began arguing with each other around 5 p.m. on Monday. As the dispute heated up, one of the women pulled out a folding knife and stabbed the other.
A bystander quickly flagged down a passing London police officer, who placed a tourniquet on the victim to slow the bleeding. The woman was then taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of Tuesday, she remains in hospital in fair condition.
The suspect was found hiding in a bush nearby about 20 minutes after the incident. When officers tried to arrest her she hopped on a bicycle and tried to take off. She was stopped by another officer and taken into custody without further incident.
Alandrea Jacquelyn Griffith, 26, of London, is charged with aggravated assault.
She is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charge on Tuesday.
