Family finds human remains in Lake Erie

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday on human remains found in Lake Erie northeast of Long Point.

A family made the gruesome discovery in the waters at Pottahawk Point in Norfolk County shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The OPP Marine Unit was called in and brought the body back to shore.

Norfolk OPP have not commented on a cause of death, but did state foul play is not suspected and the death is not considered suspicious.

Details surrounding the gender and age of the deceased individual have not been released.

Police intend to release more information once it becomes available.
