London grandfather takes home $100K in lottery winnings

A 74-year-old grandfather is still in disbelief after winning $100,000 in a Lotto 6/49 draw.

Hussain Al-Ekabi, a scientific conference organizer from London, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order for last year's August 28 draw to win the six-digit prize.

“I couldn’t believe it," said Al-Ekabi while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "I made a copy of the ticket and put the original away for safekeeping. I used the OLG Lottery App several times over the past two weeks to show and tell my friends."

The father of two and grandfather of one said he has not yet made any plans for his winnings.

"I will save some, and I will do something nice to celebrate... though I’m not sure what,” he said. “This is very good. Sometimes, I can’t believe it – it’s wonderful."

The winning ticket was purchased at Lucky Win Lotto Centre on Wonderland Road in London.
