London man shocked at $100K lotto win

Shafin Jiwani said he was shaking when he realized he'd just won $100,000.

The 26-year-old London man matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order for the April 3 Lotto Max draw to win the six-digit prize.

“This was something I never expected to happen. I was literally shaking when I realized I’d won that much money,” Jiwani said while picking up his cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I called my manager and told him I needed the day off – I knew I wasn’t going to be able to focus on work.”

Shafin said he plans to pay off his student debt and use the rest of the cash for a down payment on a house.

“This is amazing. It’s a wonderful kickstart to my life. It’s a relief to pay off my student loans – that financial burden is off my load,” he said.
