Woman charged after allegedly spitting on cops

Some St. Thomas police officers got more than they might have expected when they tried to arrest an intoxicated woman.

Police were called to a home on Miller Street around 2 a.m. Friday to remove an unwanted person. When they arrived, they found an intoxicated woman who was refusing to leave. As they tried to arrest her, police say she screamed at, kicked, and spit upon the officers.

The 21-year-old woman was taken into custody and is now charged with resisting arrest and assaulting police.

She was released with a future court date.
