Thieves break into sleeping woman's home, steal car

Two London men are facing charges after a woman awoke to find her patio door open and her vehicle gone.

The woman was sleeping inside her Duchess Avenue home when she heard footsteps around 2:35 a.m. on Saturday. The woman then heard the sound of a vehicle driving away. She soon realized the patio door of her home was open and her car was gone.

London police were contacted and located the stolen vehicle nearly an hour later heading eastbound on Baseline Road, near Wellington Road. Officers followed the vehicle and eventually got it to stop in the area of Adelaide Street near Nelson Street.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested without incident.

A 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both from London, are charged with break and enter with intent and theft of a motor vehicle. They will appear in court in relation to the charges on June 17.
