One dead, two seriously injured in Elgin County crash

A two-vehicle crash has claimed one life and severely injured two other people east of St. Thomas.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Monday shortly before 5:20 p.m., a vehicle travelling west on John Wise Line in Aylmer, between Rogers Road and Imperial Road, crossed over into the eastbound lane and collided with an eastbound vehicle.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was pronounced dead. The name of the driver has not been released.

The driver and a passenger of the eastbound vehicle were also taken to hospital to be treated for serious and critical injuries.

The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators will be attending the crash scene and the roadway is expected to be reopened by the morning commute.
