Driver charged in crash involving pedestrian

Charges have been laid against a St. Thomas man after a crash that sent a pedestrian to hospital.

St. Thomas police were called after the woman was hit on Talbot Street at East Street around 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

The woman was knocked to the ground by the vehicle as she crossed East Street, police said. The driver was turning onto Talbot at the time of the collision.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 60-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian. If convicted, the man will be fined $180 and issued three demerit points.
