St. Thomas police investigate explosion

Police in St. Thomas are asking the public for help after an early morning explosion that damaged an excavator.

According to police, it happened around 12:19 a.m. Saturday in the area of Princess Avenue at Roseberry Place. Officers responded to reports of a loud noise described as an explosion.

When police arrived, they found a small excavator with the glass windows blown out of it and some debris on the ground. Officers spent the morning canvassing the area for further information.

A dark coloured SUV was seen in the area at the time of the event and police believe it may have been part of the offence or witnessed the damage. Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who may have camera footage in the Alma College to come forward as they continue their investigation.
