London man charged after knife pulled on cop

Charges have now been laid against a 43-year-old London man who was tasered by police after allegedly coming at officers with a knife.

London police had gone to a house on Beckworth Avenue to arrest a suspect on behalf of another police service around 9:15 a.m. on Monday. A man inside the home ended up lunging at one of the police officers with a knife.

The man was arrested after being tasered by the officer.

As a precaution, paramedics were called to the scene to make sure the man wasn't seriously hurt.

Derek Lyle Newstead, 43, of London is charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with recognizance.
