Pair charged in Port Rowan ATM theft

Two men from the Six Nations of the Grand River have been charged, seven months after an ATM was ripped from a Port Rowan gas station.

Norfolk OPP had been investigating the incident since December 3 of last year. It was shortly after midnight when two people broke into a gas station on Front Road and tried to remove the ATM.

When their initial efforts failed, the suspects backed a truck into the store causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. They then took off from the station with the ATM in tow.

The money machine was later found in a ditch by police.

A 39-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, both from Six Nations of the Grand River have been charged with break and enter and mischief over $5,000.
