Wallet left behind in attempted cake theft

It didn't take London police long to make an arrest in an attempted cake theft at a southwest-end variety store after the suspected thief left his wallet behind.

A man was spotted trying to hide a frozen cake in his clothing inside the store at 925 Wonderland Rd. S around 2:40 p.m. on Monday. When confronted by an employee, the man is alleged to have pulled out a knife before leaving the store without the cake or his wallet.

No one was hurt in the confrontation.

Police were called and a suspect was arrested nearby.

A 21-year-old London man is charged with robbery. He was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charge on Tuesday.
