London police have arrested two men following a lengthy investigation into a series of construction equipment thefts.
Police first noticed the trend of front-end loaders, skid steers, and utility-task vehicles being stolen in the city at the start of the year. The thefts were reported from both homes and businesses.
On June 25, officers with the street crime unit searched a London business that was operating out of a storage unit. Several stolen items were found inside and have since been returned to their owners.
A number of other pieces of medium-duty construction equipment that had been reported stolen were found elsewhere in London and to the west of the city.
A 36-year-old London man is charged with five counts possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, three counts of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of theft over $5,000.
A 42-year-old London man is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of theft over $5,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
