Suspicious Package Removed From Central Library

A street in downtown London was shut down for several hours Sunday evening due to a suspicious package.

The activity began shortly after 4pm. Police say someone spotted a suspicious package at the central branch of the London Public Library.

London police blocked Dundas St between Wellington St and Clarence St to all foot and vehicle traffic.

The library, along with the adjoining Citi Plaza complex, was evacuated as a precaution. Police set up their Emergency Response Unit near the library, along with their bomb disposal unit.

London police confirmed that the suspicious package was removed from the library around 9:30pm.

Dundas St was reopened a half-hour later.

There were no reports of injuries. Police are still investigating.
