Driver Seriously Hurt In Norfolk County Crash

A driver has suffered serious injuries in a collision in Norfolk County.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened shortly after 2pm Saturday on Main St in Courtland.

The investigation revealed that the single vehicle was traveling on Main St when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.

The driver was airlifted to a London hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Investigators soon determined that the Oxford County OPP had tried to stop the same vehicle earlier near Concession Rd E and Demeyere Dr in Tillsonburg. As a result, the OPP has notified the Special Investigations Unit and the SIU has invoked its mandate.

The SIU is called in when a civilian is injured or killed during a situation involving law enforcement.

No further details have been released.

Hwy 3 between Byerlay Side Rd and King Crescent was closed for several hours so investigators could complete their work. It was reopened around 9pm.
