Search Turns Up Banned Weapons And Drugs

Middlesex County OPP say they have recovered some drugs and an assortment of banned weapons after searching an illegal marijuana dispensary in an Indigenous community southwest of London.

OPP officers, along with members of the Chippewas of The Thames First Nation Police Service and the Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crimes Unit, searched a trailer on Melbourne Rd., near Jubilee Dr. on the Chippewas of The Thames First Nation on Tuesday.

Investigators say they found cannabis, cannabis edibles, cannabis concentrates (shatter, hashish, and resin), and a firearm along with various other weapons at the property.

Officers also arrested a 43-year-old London man at the scene. He is now facing a number of drug-trafficking and weapons-related charges along with one count each of mischief and possession of property obtained by crime.
