Remains Those Of Missing Man

The mystery surrounding the discovery of human remains near St. Thomas has been solved.

Elgin OPP say a forensic investigation has determined that the remains found in the area of Turner Rd. in Central Elgin on March 6 are those of Kevin Savoie. The 52-year-old was reported missing by St. Thomas police on September 21, 2016. At the time, police believed he might have been in Aylmer.

"As a result of the post-mortem examination conducted on March 8, 2018, foul play is not suspected," police said in a statement issued Wednesday morning.

Police are still investigating Savoie's disappearance and death. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Brian Watson of the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit at (519) 631-2920.
