Police ID Man Found In Lake Erie

Provincial police have identified the body of a man found in Lake Erie as that of a missing London man.

Elgin OPP say they do not suspect foul play in the death of David Hayes. The 39-year-old London man was reported missing by London police on Friday. Elgin OPP later reported that a man had disappeared in the water near the main pier in Port Stanley around 6pm Friday. OPP, the Central Elgin Fire Department, and the Coast Guard searched for him until roughly 11pm, before resuming their search on Saturday morning.

Crews found a body around 6pm Saturday. Elgin OPP confirmed Monday that the body they found was that of Hayes.
