Skeletal Remains Found Near St. Thomas

Provincial police are investigating after human remains were found near St. Thomas.

The skeletal remains were discovered on Tuesday in the area of Turner Rd. and Beck Line in Central Elgin, according to Elgin OPP.

The identity of the remains is not yet known but, given their state, police believe they have been there for quite some time.

At this point, police are unable to say whether the cause of death is considered suspicious.

"Because they are skeletal remains the post-mortem has to be conducted, which is going to happen [Thursday] and then we will know more after the results come back," said Constable Jay Denorer.

The area where the remains were found is being examined by forensic investigators and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is heading the case.
