Man Charged In St. Thomas Home Invasion, Stabbing

Police in St. Thomas say a London man is charged after a home invasion that saw a homeowner get stabbed.

On Saturday, police say a man broke into a home in the southeast end of St. Thomas. A homeowner confronted him and the man refused to leave. Instead, he grabbed two kitchen knives and held the homeowner captive.

There was a brief struggle that ended with the homeowner being stabbed in the abdomen. A suspect was later arrested at a nearby home when a resident of that home called police.

A 19-year-old London man is charged with aggravated assault, break and enter, possession of stolen property, forcible confinement, uttering threats, and failing to comply with his probation.

The homeowner was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say this was an isolated incident and the suspect and victim did not know each other.
