Mother Charged After Wandering Tot Found

A London mother is facing charges after a 3-year-old child was found wandering alone in an east-end parking lot.

London police say the toddler was found in a lot in the area of Florence St. and Egerton St. around 3am on Thursday. Investigators allege the child's mother had gone inside a nearby building around 10:30pm on Wednesday, leaving the tot outside.

The child was not hurt and has since been moved to a "safe place," according to a statement issued by police.

The Children's Aid Society has been contacted about the incident.

The mother, whose name has not been released to protect the identify of the toddler, is charged with leaving a child unattended.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
