Cyclist Killed In Collision Identified

Provincial police have identified a 67-year-old Middlesex Centre woman as the cyclist struck and killed by a vehicle west of Ilderton earlier this week.

Evlynne Loubert was riding her bicycle south on Bear Creek Rd. between Sinclair Dr. and Ivan Dr., when she was hit by a vehicle that was also traveling south around 5pm on Tuesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, Loubert's identity remained a mystery for three days as she did not have identification with her when she was struck. Officers issued a public plea for  help identifying the 67-year-old on Wednesday, and even released a photo of a similar bike to the one Loubert had been riding. That prompted a number of tips from the public.

Police announced on Friday, officers had identified Loubert and notified her family. They are thanking the public for their assistance in this matter.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
