Sears Canada has announced it's cutting 2,900 jobs and closing multiple locations, including the Sears Home Store in London, as part of the company's restructuring plans.
The Canadian retailer was granted court protection from creditors by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Thursday.
As part of its restructuring, the company will shut down 20 full-line locations, 15 Sears Home stores, ten Sears Outlets and 14 Sears Hometown locations. The Sears Home store at 784 Wharncliffe Rd. in London is among those slated to close.
The timeline of when the stores will be shuttered has not yet been finalized.
Sears has been trying to reinvent the company over the last 18 months. It hopes to complete restructuring and exit creditor protection by the end of the year.
