Victims Identified In Fatal Oneida House Fire

Police have identified a man and four children who died in a house fire on the Oneida of the Thames First Nation last week.

The Ontario Provincial Police said 43-year-old Kurt Justin Antone, 7-year-old Keanu Antone, 4-year-old Kenneth Antone, 3-year-old Kance Antone and 3-month-old Kyias Antone, were all killed during the fire on December 14.

Firefighters arrived at the Townline Rd. home at around 11am, and found it engulfed in flames. Cold temperatures and winter weather conditions hampered their efforts to douse the blaze.

The remains of the five victims were eventually located and transported to a coroner in Toronto for autopsies, which were conducted this week.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and police say the blaze remains under investigation.
