Listowel Child Luring Story Not True

There's a new development in a child luring story from Listowel that was reported Tuesday.

North Perth OPP had asked for help from the public in finding a white van and it's driver, after an 11-year-old girl claimed she was approached by a stranger who offered her candy to go for a ride with him. The girl refused, and ran home.

The incident was alleged to have occurred near Nichol Ave. S and Main St. E in Listowel Monday afternoon.

As a result of new evidence obtained by investigators, the OPP have determined that this incident did not take place, and there will be no further investigation.

North Perth OPP say they take any allegations like this seriously, and remind caregivers of young children to regularly speak to them about personal and community safety.
