London Woman Killed By Alleged Impaired Driver

A London woman is dead and her infant son is clinging to life after a crash west of Kitchener that police allege was the result of impaired driving.

The 29-year-old woman was killed just before 8pm Sunday when the vehicle she was in was hit from behind by another vehicle on Hwy. 7/8 in Wilmot Township. Her two-month-old son was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.

The woman's husband and mother-in-law were also in the vehicle. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 26-year-old Ahmed Darwish of Kitchener, is charged with impaired driving causing death, two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to provide a breath sample causing bodily harm, and failing to submit to a drug evaluation.
