Couple Charged After Home Explosion

London police say charges have been laid in connection with a butane explosion at a home on Hamilton Rd.

A man suffered serious burns to the front of his body in an explosion in the bathroom of the home around 1:20am on Monday. He was taken to hospital where, as of Tuesday, he remained in serious condition.

A woman and infant inside the home at the time of the blast were not injured.

Police searched the home following the incident and found marijuana shake and marijuana bud. They say the explosion was the result of an attempt to produce cannabis resin using butane.

A 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from London, are charged with possession and production of a controlled substance, and arson by negligence.

Damage to the home is estimated at $10,000.
