Taxi Driver Assaulted

A London man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a taxi driver.

Police say on Saturday night around 11:30pm, a taxi driver picked up a man in the downtown area.

Before arriving to the specified location, the man asked the driver to stop in the St. James St. and Waterloo St. area.

The man then assaulted the driver and tried to take control of the vehicle, causing a collision.

A citizen called police after seeing the assault.

Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Francis Samson with robbery, impaired driving, mischief, and escape lawful custody.
