Crash Claims Second Life

A serious three-vehicle crash near St. Thomas on Friday has now claimed the life of a second person.

Elgin OPP say David Guenther, 47, of Bayham died of his injuries in hospital. He was driving a pickup truck that collided with a dump truck on Highbury Ave. and Ferguson Ln. around 11:40am.

His passenger, 20-year-old Hakeem Krahn of Malahide, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the dump truck was heading north on Highbury Ave. when it veered into the southbound lane and hit a car. It then hit Guenther's pickup truck head-on.

The driver of the dump truck, a 42-year-old man from London, was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries. His name has not been released.

The 43-year-old Strathroy-Caradoc woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital along with her passenger, a 24-year-old London man. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash.
