One Dead, Four Injured In St. Thomas-Area Crash

A three-vehicle crash involving a dump truck, a car, and a pickup has left one person dead and another fighting for life in hospital.

Elgin OPP say the crash happened at 11:40am Friday just south of the intersection of Highbury Ave. and Ferguson Lane.

Constable Adam Crewdson says one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to hospital, one of them by air ambulance. One of the injured is listed in critical condition, while three others suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Highbury Ave. is closed between Truman Lane and Ron McNeil Lene.  Ferguson Lane is closed between Dalewood Rd. and Yarmouth Centre Rd.

The closures are likely to be in effect until sometime Friday evening.

Police are still investigating.
