Suspect Identified In Hair Salon Fraud

London police say a woman accused of skipping out on paying for an eight hour salon appointment has turned herself in.

Employees of the Trinity Beauty Supply and Salon on Wellington St. told police they spent eight hours last Thursday attaching hair extensions and braiding a woman's hair before the woman said she wanted to go for a cigarette. The woman then left the salon with her purse, still wearing the hairdresser's cape and did not return.

The woman gave the name "Sharon" when she booked the appointment the day before.

Police asked for the public's help identifying the woman around 9am Tuesday. Roughly two hours later, they tweeted that they had identified a suspect "thanks to the power of social media."

Constable Sandasha Bough says a woman turned herself in at police headquarters on Dundas St. after seeing the story circulate on social media.

Police have not yet announced any charges.
