Hockey Fan Charged With Assault

An overzealous hockey fan is charged after a man was punched in the head during a minor hockey game in St. Thomas.

St. Thomas police say the incident began as an argument between two men who were watching a game at Memorial Arena on Wilson Ave. around 8:30pm Friday. The dispute quickly escalated and one man punched the other in the side of the head several times before spectators broke up the fight.

The victim was treated in hospital and has since been released.

A 48-year-old Alvinston man has been charged with assault.

Police allege the man had been drinking prior to the altercation.
