Unattended Pot Causes Kitchen Fire

A fire that caused extensive damage to a mobile home on Springbank Dr. has been deemed accidental.

London firefighters were called to the mobile home at the Cove Mobile Home Park at 189 Springbank Dr. around 5pm Sunday.

Crews arrived to find smoke billowing out of a front window but were able to quickly douse the flames.

Fire officials say a pot of wax left unattended on a stove top sparked the blaze. It spread to nearby cupboards, then up into the ceiling leaving smoke damage throughout the entire mobile home.

No one was injured in the fire but two dogs trapped inside were rescued by neighbours who broke a window to get them out.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.
