London Brothers Win Big

Life will never be the same for the Holbeck brothers.

Jim and Rob Holbeck are London's newest millionaires. The brothers held the single winning ticket for the March 12 LOTTO 6/49 draw, taking home a whopping $13,259,890.

The brothers bought their ticket at the Trafalgar Mini Mart on Trafalgar St. and on Monday went to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim their prize.

“My first reaction was holy … macaroni and then a few other colourful words,” says Jim. “I thought I saw $13,259. I grabbed the ticket and went next door for a coffee and to quietly check the numbers again. One by one they matched up."

After using a ticket-checker to confirm the win, Jim started making calls. Family and friends arrived at the coffee shop a short time later, triple-checked the ticket and then laughed, cried, and celebrated together.

For Jim the money is security, peace of mind, and a chance to spoil the people he loves. His brother Rob has similar plans in mind.

“I’ve been married 25 years and my wife Sylvia deserves the honeymoon we never had," says Rob. "Our dream is to go to Europe.”
