Vehicle Crashes Into Woodstock Home

One person has been charged after a vehicle collided with a house in Woodstock.

The Woodstock Police Service says on Wednesday around 1:30pm, a red Hyundai Santa Fe was travelling east on Dundas St. when the vehicle was struck by a white Ford van entering traffic from Houser’s Lane. The Santa Fe then veered off through a ditch, crossed the westbound lanes of traffic onto a front lawn, and then crashed into the side of a brick house.

Two residents were home at the time of the crash and told police it sounded like an earthquake.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 65-year-old Woodstock woman, was taken to hospital with minor hip and back injuries. The driver of the Ford van, a 52-year-old Woodstock man, was not injured. The residents of the home were also not injured.

Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $15,000, while damage to the house is pegged at around $20,000.

The driver of the van has been charged with failing to yield to traffic.
