Guilty Plea Coming In Deadly Western Crash

A London man charged in the impaired driving death of an 18-year-old Western University student will plead guilty next month.

Jared DeJong was charged with dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death, and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mm of blood following the October 7 collision that claimed the life of Andrea Christidis.

DeJong's lawyer, Jim Dean, says the matter has been adjourned until February 17 when a guilty plea will be entered.

"Which of the charges specifically, the Crown and I are still sorting out, but I can confirm that it is set for plea and it will be a guilty plea entered," says Dean. "This would be indicative of remorse and acceptance of what has happened."

Christidis, a first year Western student, was walking back to her residence after studying when a vehicle jumped the curb on Lambton Dr. and hit her.
She died from her injuries three days after the crash.
