A new phone scam is making the rounds in Woodstock.
In a span of 24 hours this week, Woodstock police received 120 calls from residents who were called by someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.
Police say the caller talks about a possible investigation and federal charges. The unknown person then says police will be called if the resident does not give personal information.
Police say you should never give personal or financial information over the phone, at the door, or online unless you are certain who you are providing it to. They say residents should be suspicious of anyone asking for that sort of information.
Anyone who has been a victim of fraud is asked to call police to report the incident. Police say the information could protect others from becoming victims of the same scam.
