Man Charged In Crash That Killed Wife

Norfolk OPP say an 80-year-old Woodstock man is now charged in connection with a collision that claimed the life of his wife and a motorcyclist.

Just before 7pm on August 6, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Brantford Rd. and Teeterville Rd. near Simcoe. A southbound motorcycle had slammed into the side of a westbound pickup truck.

The motorcyclist, 54-year-old Kenneth Haviland, of Norfolk County was killed. The passenger in the pickup, 74-year-old Patricia Menard-Williams of Woodstock, also died in the crash.

Police say the driver of the truck, 80-year-old Donald Williams of Woodstock, is now charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to yield to traffic on through highway.
