Pretrial Starts In Gubbels Case

The pretrial of Jeremy Gubbels, the man accused of killing both his mother and father, starts today in a London court.

Gubbels faces two counts of first degree murder in connection to the deaths of Mario Gubbels, 54, and Susan Gubbels, 55, of Warwick Township.

Up until now, the majority of Gubbels' court appearances have been by video in a Sarnia court.

His mother's body was found in the couple's Lambton County home last July, then that same day his father's body was discovered inside a car in a downtown London parking lot.

Details surrounding the crime remain scarce, but police tell BlackburnNews.com Mario Gubbels was not killed in London.

The accused was renting a room in the city at the time of the murders.

A pretrial is held so a judge can decide of there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Gubbels being housed at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre. If the case does go to trial, it is likely those court proceedings will also be held in London.
