Strike and Talks Continue

No word from either side in the London city inside workers' negotiations as the strike by more than 700 employees enters a sixth week.

The City of London and CUPE Local 101 agreed to continue bargaining over the weekend with a mediator, under a media blackout.

The strike by CUPE Local 101 members since 1979. It has led to a slow-down for some in the construction industry who are waiting for permits to begin or continue projects. In previous statements, the union has said sticking points in talks have centred on working hours, pay and some conditions the city wants to put on new hires.
