More London Firefighters Make Sunshine List

A total of 269 firefighters in London banked more than $100,000 in 2014.

That's 30 additional firefighters added to the so-called Sunshine List, which had 239 members of the London Professional Fire Fighters Association (LPFFA) on it in 2013.

Officials say overtime is to blame for the increase.

"The chief has probably been handcuffed with when he can hire and if we're low staffed, or have people off with serious injuries and other issues then that prompts overtime just to maintain the basic level of service," says LPFFA President Josh Hassan. "You have to look at what your fire service actually costs your average rate payer, and it's about 80 cents per day on average, so that's still a tremendously good value."

The LPFFA has approximately 380 members.

The London Police Services also added 20 more people to the list this last year, bringing the total to 212.
